History of the Foxes Project
Origins
In April 2024 we received two young foxes. One was a newborn fox cub and the other was a 3 week old female fox that had bloodshot eyes and could not see anything.

After spending a few days at the rescue center, it became clear that both foxes will have to stay with us forever. To ensure Murri’s survival, it was essential that he grow up in contact with people, and Mercè will never see again.
Can they live together?
Although we know that foxes in the wild are solitary animals, in social networks we have seen sanctuaries where foxes live together. We tried putting Mercè and Murri together, but it didn’t work. Murri has a very playful character, ok, he is a bit heavy, and Mercè, when she got tired of him and he doesn’t understand that he has to stop, she injures him.
We have to build two spaces
To ensure the well-being of both foxes, it is essential to build two spaces and to select a place with 24-hour surveillance. In addition, we have chosen to place the spaces side by side, which will allow us to unite the foxes under our supervision at specific times.
The time they have spent at the clinic has revealed to us how restless they are and their desire to explore the world. Therefore, we have decided to develop a very entertaining infrastructure and offer the foxes challenges that allow them to enjoy their life in captivity in a fun way.

Both foxes return to the clinic a few months later due to health problems. We try again to reunite them, but again without success.
New space for the foxes
Our commitment
We are raising funds to build a special space for our foxes Mercè and Murri. This new enclosure will be designed so that they can move around safely, with safe areas where they can rest, explore and receive care. The funds will go towards the construction of the enclosures, safe materials, shaded areas, and environmental enrichment adapted to their needs.
